Draws pictures and uses objects to represent mathematical situations

1st semester

 

 

  1.  Review attendance stick. Count students using a variety of ways to confirm number of students in class.
  2. Instruct students to make a representation of the class using counters on a 12”x18” piece of paper. Check students by listening to/watching them count objects with one to one correspondence. Place a mark, stamp or sticker in corner of paper when complete. If students need to correct, have them double-check then place a mark on paper to indicate assistance was received.
  3. Have students draw a representation of the class showing the number of students in the class. Some will draw figures others may draw shapes or other objects.

 

 

 

Extension: Have students write numbers from 1 to number of students in the class on paper as well.
