Optional Activities

After your child has finished reading a book, it is fun to do activities with the book.

He/she can choose to do one of the following activities.

· Illustrate your story

· Write the next chapter

· Change the ending to the story

· Make a diorama

· Create a book cover

· Create a bookmark

· Make a mobile

· Illustrate each chapter

· Make a board game

· Create ads promoting the book

· Design a poster

· Write about your favorite character

· Compare your favorite character with someone you know (make a Venn Diagram)

· Make a story map with characters, setting, problem, and solution

· Make a story quilt with main events of the story

· Make a comic strip

· Write a poem or song

· Give a puppet show

· Write a letter to one of the characters

· Design a postcard, then write to a character

· Research the life and works of the author

· Create a recipe for a food mentioned in the story

· Cook a food mentioned in the story

· Create a project of your own
