WORKS CITED EXAMPLES
Below are examples of entries taken from the Westlake Style Manual.
Here are a few general rules:
q Center the title Works Cited
one inch from the top. Don’t underline, bold,
or change the font or size of the title Works Cited. Entire works cited is
Times New Roman, size 12 font.
q Begin each entry flush with
the left margin. If the entry runs more
than one line, indent additional
lines five spaces (or tab
once).
q Single-space between words
and after punctuation marks in a works cited entry.
q List each entry
alphabetically by the author’s last name.
If there is no author, use the first word of the title (Ignore A, An, The).
q Dates are in the order of
day month year, i.e.: 24 Aug. 1994 (note no commas!)
q
All months in dates are abbreviated with the exceptions of May, June,
and July.
q
Your last name and page number appears 1/2 “
from the top in the right corner of all pages (including works cited)

of the entry (ignore a,
an, the).
