WORKS CITED EXAMPLES

Below are examples of entries taken from the Westlake Style Manual.

Here are a few general rules:

q  Center the title Works Cited one inch from the top.  Don’t underline, bold, or change the font or size of the title Works Cited. Entire works cited is Times New Roman, size 12 font.

q  Begin each entry flush with the left margin.  If the entry runs more than one line, indent additional

lines five spaces (or tab once).

q  Single-space between words and after punctuation marks in a works cited entry.

q  List each entry alphabetically by the author’s last name.  If there is no author, use the first word of the title (Ignore A, An, The).

q  Dates are in the order of day month year, i.e.: 24 Aug. 1994 (note no commas!)

q  All months in dates are abbreviated with the exceptions of May, June, and July.

q  Your last name and page number appears 1/2 “ from the top in the right corner of all pages (including works cited)
