Samuel De Champlain was a lieutenant of New France, which became later known as Quebec. Champlain was born on the year of 1567 his exact date is unknown.  When he was born, he became a catholic, though he was born a protestant.  He even fought with Spain when he was in his twenties. Later though he became a navigator for the French in the new world.  He has made 21 voyages to America.  What Champlain is most famous for though is the fact that he is the first man to begin the trading of fur.  It soon became an important import to France. Champlain was injured in his encounter with the Iroquois people of America.  After this he then went back to France and married.  Later, private funds for American colonies eventually sent Champlain to have another assault with the Iroquois tribe. This time it was a success, and he became the first person to ever colonize in Canada.  Samuel de Champlain later died 1635 on Christmas day.
