neat

LOOK TO THE LEFT!…see anything in the space there?  Look carefully, “fuzz” your eyes and you just might see a hidden word.  Give it an honest effort.

LOOK TO THE RIGHT!…here’s another hidden word.  Can you see it?  Feel free to use the below sites to help you on various studies throughout the year.

stuff

Animatedatlas – A clever site…just click, sit back and become a part of the 10 minute interactive video “Growth Of A Nation”.  The “Resources for All American History” links are as advertised and well worth your time.

Citizenshipquiz – An  interactive way to check if you have red, white and blue running through your veins.  Test your citizenship knowledge…compete against a friend or family member.  Scored upon completion.

Colonialhouse – Waaaaay cool website.  Check out “Would you have survived in the Colony” interactive quiz…some good connections made here.  Another interesting part is the 360 degree look inside a house.

Colonialwilliamsburg – Meet the people, see the places, experience the life that was colonial America.  What a beautiful place to visit in person, or electronically, at any time of the year.  Try the “Pardon or Pillory” game.

Discoverohio – Use this “Buckeye Travel Planner” site to maybe mix in some Ohio History with that next family getaway…can also reach links for the state government, the kids page, etc.

Firstgovforkids – Maintained by the Federal Citizen Information Center…THE authority and site for “age appropriate” government studies and so much more.

Gamesforthebrain – Not just another “brain” site, it’s actually fun!  Try the “colored lines” (MY FAV!) and “Master…” games for a true challenge.  You can cue up other word games, and in other languages too.

Historychannel – Much more than just a programming schedule…”This Day In History”, teamed with a vast collection of speeches and videos, makes this quite a unique site.

Historyplace – A site born on the 4th of July…a unique “tell it like it was” collection featuring both U.S. and World humanities exhibits.  I like the historical movie review and the tourism guide here.

Libraryofcongress – Plenty of film, photos, and facts at this site.  Home of the greatest library in the country…get to know your U.S. history here.

Nationalgeographic – As you might expect, wonderful features from all ends of the earth.  Includes an online magazine and store, and television & film schedules.  Check out the awesome history interactives at the site index.

Nationalparkservice – From the U.S. Department of the Interior…browse this site for a listing of the greatest parks in all the land, their histories and natural wonders.  A neat collection of virtual tours as an added bonus.

OATpracticetests – How about a sneak peek at those big standardized tests coming up this spring?  Click here to view half-length versions (and answers – in the administration manual) of all the tests, grades 3-8.  A site maintained by the Ohio Department of Education for practice purposes, and shiggles.

Smithsonian – Explore and learn…this site includes online resources from the African Art Museum to the National Zoo.  You can also sneak a peek at any past, present or future exhibitions and events.

Stopwatch – Not really a site, but rather just a neat way to make sure you don’t spend too much time in any one place.  Perhaps you could also test your hand/eye coordination to get the lowest start and stop time.  Just for fun.

Weather – Going somewhere soon?…maybe you are just curious as to the weather conditions around Ohio, the U.S., or on another part of the planet.  This is a good site to start with.

Westlake – This could come in handy near the end of the year.  The official site for our fair city…includes all important map work and demographics.

Worldnews – See this site for the latest details on that breaking story here or around the world.  It might get a bit wordy, but otherwise an informative site.

Worldphotos – A neat site for those who are visually oriented.  What a collection…it is just an “all you can eat” buffet of pictures from all around this great country and the rest of the world.
