1. What is the definition of pure?

2. How can you distinguish between a chemical that is a pure substance and one that is a mixture?

3. Based up the definition for pure and mixture, list ten substances (that are in your everyday life) that you think are pure and 10 substances that you think are mixtures. Why did you choose these to represent pure substances and mixtures?

4. How could you test to be sure that the substances you chose were correctly ‘pure’ or a ‘mixture’? Write a scientific method lab (all seven steps) that could be used as your test.
