Description: XP Movie Maker can be used to create a slow-motion video.  Follow the directions below carefully.

Open Windows Movie Maker

 

In the task pane, click Import Video

Go to where your movie was saved and double-click the file

  • Your video files were probably downloaded to the teacher's S drive during the project and then copied into bupublic/vontroba

  1. This is your imported video
  2. This is the preview pane
  3. Play, pause, and stop
  4. Back and forward buttons for frame to frame
  5. Tool to take picture of a single frame

Play the video until you get to where the 'action' just starts

It's going to ask you to save the picture.  Make sure it's going to your S drive into My Pictures

 

 

 

Click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi17.gifand notice that in the collections area you now have that picture

Click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi19.jpgto get to the next frame and again click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi15.jpg.   Again save it.

  • Note that this time the name has changed to 0002.  That's good.  That's what we want

Continue doing STEP 6 until the end of the action

 

 

  STOP HERE!  SAVE

 

At this point you're actually saving a 'project'

  • Click the http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi25.gif
  • Name the file
  • Change it from My Videos to a folder withing your S: drive - maybe My Pictures
  • Click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi26.gif

Select all the pictures.  Do not select the movie.

 

Best way to do this is to click on the first picture and as you're holding down the SHIFT key, click on the last picture.

Click, hold, and drag the pictures down to the Timeline

To edit individual clips:http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi23.jpg

  • Click on a clip
  • Drag the black triangle at the beginning or end to make the clip last longer or shorter
  • Notice that when you put the cursor over the black triangle, you'll get 2 red arrows.  This is when you can drag

  • Use the play controls to continually test what you have.
  • Hit the disc to save what you have so far

Once you're done, it's time to 'Finish' the movie

 

  • In the Finish Movie part of the Task section, click Save to my computer

  • Enter a file name following the conventions given to you by your teacher
  • Make sure the file will be going to your S: Drive
    • If it isn't, use the Browse button

  • Leave it on Best quality...

  • Click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/help/KT/video/images/XPmovi29.gifand it will get saved to your S drive
     
  • You can view the finished movie by going into your S drive and double-click on the file name

 

 

If you are asked to 'turn the file in', follow your teacher's instructions carefully
