Section 1: The President

· Term – four years

· Elected by electoral college

· Qualifications:

1. Natural-born citizen

2. 35 years old

3. Resident of US for 14 years

· Succession – if president is removed, dies, etc:

Vice president

· Powers of the President

1. Veto

2. Ability to give pardons

3. Appoints Cabinet members (senate then confirms with 2/3 vote)

4. Conduct war

5. Make treaties with Senate’s confirmation

6. Appoint Federal Judges with senate’s confirmation

7. Appoint Ambassadors with senate’s confirmation

8. Enforce laws
