Signing up for an AIM account

Description: Before you can have a video conference with someone, you need an account with the service you're using.  AIM Pro is a great piece of free software that we use here at school.  Skype is another free service.  The instructions below are for signing up for AIM.
  These instructions can NOT be done here at school.  The page that has the sign up for these accounts is blocked by our web filter
 
Go to the following web address:  http://dashboard.aim.com/aim  
Look on the page for a 'Get Screen Name' link.  (this one was in the upper right corner of the page)

 
Fill in the information on the form.

 
When you're done, click

 
If successful, you should get a webpage that has something like the diagram to the right.

 
Now, you can log in.  Start AIM Pro and fill in the login fields.
  1. Screen name
  2. Password
  3. Click Sign in

Note:  please put your username and password somewhere where you won't lose or forget them
