Transferring Pictures and Videos from your digital camera to
 your computer

These are generic instructions on how to transfer the pictures on your digital camera to your computer here at school

 

  After taking pictures or videos:
Log into a computer

 

Set your camera up next to your computer.

  • Do not set it down on the side of the lens

 

 

Turn it to the 'play' mode

  • Most cameras have some kind of 'play' mode where you can review the pictures you've taken.  The symbol often looks like like a triangle

Connect the small end of the download cord to the port on the camera

Connect the large end of the download cord to a USB port on the computer

  • These ports can be in the front, the back or the side of the computer

  • If the cord doesn't fit, turn the end around

Turn the camera on.

 

It might take awhile to load, but a dialog box will eventually show up.  Make sure you choose Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard

 

Click

Select the pictures you wish to transfer:
  1. Check the boxes of the pictures you wish to transfer.  Uncheck the box of those you don't want
  2. Alternatively, click Clear All or Select All
  3. Click Next
  1. Type a name for the group of pictures / movies
    • This could be a date or descriptive name, or even just an A or B.  
  2. The default location is probably going to be your My Pictures within your S drive.  If it isn't click the browse button and make sure the pictures are going into your S drive somewhere.
  3. Check the delete box.  Once the pictures have been downloaded, you'll want to get the camera ready for the next person.  Please delete the pictures.
Click and your pictures will be tranferred to your S drive.
