Using XP Movie Maker for Claymation  

Movies.  Use controls or refresh for replay Please read all directions carefully Mistakes? We can't fix them if you don't let us know
           

Description: XP Movie Maker can be used to do a claymation project.  Before starting with Movie Maker, take all your pictures and save them to a folder within your S: drive.
 

 

Start MovieMaker

  1. Import Pictures
     

  2. Go to the folder the pictures for the claymation were saved
     

  3. Select all the pictures you'll be using
    *Ctrl-A will select them all
     

  4. Click Import

It might take a bit for all the pictures to be imported

 

 

 

Go now to Tools / Options

On the advanced tab:

  • Change picture duration to the lowest it will go (0.125 sec)
  • Change transition duration to the lowest it will go (0.25 sec)

 

It would be wise for you to save at this point.  Saving at this point is saving the project.  We'll create the movie later when we're all done
  • Hit the on the toolbar in the upper left
  • Save it in your S: drive, not Shared Videos
  • Rename appropriately, especially following any teacher instructions

Once they're in, highlight all of them (ctrl-A) or select the ones you want, and then click, hold, and drag them into the video timeline below

 

They might looked 'scrunched' together, so if you wish, you can use the zoom in controls to see them a bit more clearly

 

 

  1. To view the movie, click the
     

  2. To start the movie playing at somewhere else, click in the timeline and then
     

  3. To rewind to the beginning, click

When you preview your video, it will show in the screen to the right

Once you're all done editing and you're satisfied with the results, it's time to save the project again.  Do that by clicking the

 

Okay - time to create the movie file

  • In the Tasks bar, under #3 Finish Movie, click Save to my computer
     

  • Enter a file name
    (You might include a period number and your last name)
     

  • Navigate using the Browse button to your S: drive or a folder within your S: drive
     

  • Click
     

  • Choose Best quality for playback on my computer
     

  • and wait.  It might take a while to convert into a video

 

 

To view the completed movie, go to My Computer, find your S: drive, and double-click on the movie file.
