EGP:  Routine Backup Copies

Click on this icon for movies     Please read all directions carefully     Mistakes? We can't fix them if you don't let us know

Description:

It's important to save a backup copy every time you make changes to your grade book.  Though we recommend saving the backup to a flash drive, you certainly could save your backup to a floppy disc or another directory.

If you're saving your backup to a USB Drive, connect your USB flash drive to your computer.  It probably will appear as your E drive in My Computer, but could be F or G

When you're done working with your grade book, click the in the top right of the window to close the program.

The X is next to the restore and minimize buttons.

Click yes to make a backup copy

If you choose Yes, then a saving dialog box opens.

Do not press the Save button until you’ve chosen the location and the file name.  Saving a copy allows for an emergency backup.

Some notes you really should read:

  • Choosing No to saving a backup, no copy is made.  If something happens to your files that file is lost forever!  Unless….. If you catch it within 4 days, you can get a hold of Tech office and it’s possible for them to use the system backup tapes to restore your file.  Choose wisely!

  • Do NOT open your files from your backup copy!

  • The best way to open your grade book is from a shortcut that points to the main file in your home directory.

  • If you don’t know how to make shortcuts, see your local tech resource person
