Picasa - Uploading Web Galleries

Description:
There are basically three sections to getting galleries to the web: 

  • Steps 1-6: Creating the web gallery with Picasa 

  • Step 7: Copying and Pasting the gallery from your S drive to your web  

  • Step 8: Creating a hyperlink to the gallery

 

Open Picasa

  • Start / Programs / Picasa2

  • On the second screen, ‘point’ the program to your My Pictures within your S Drive

 

Edit Pictures and put in captions (optional)

  • Double-click on any picture in the 'library' to edit it.

  • (1) Use the 3 tabs to edit as you wish

  • (2) Click on Make a caption at the bottom of the picture to type in a caption.  Can be a whole sentence

  • (3) Use the arrows at the top to go to the next picture in that gallery or to the previous picture in order to continue editing

  • (4)Click Back to Library tab to continue

 

 

Select pictures that you wish to be in the online gallery.  To select more than one picture:

  • hold the ctrl button on the keyboard and click on multiple pictures

  • hold the shift key.  Click the first one and then click the last one to select all those in-between.

 

To start the upload, go to Album / Export as HTML Page

 

You will be saving first to your S drive (for whatever reason, it won't let you save directly to your web)

  • (1)  800 or 640 should do  (This depends total upon what resolution you have your camera set at)

  • (2)  Type in a gallery title

  • (3)  Click Browse button to save to your S-drive

 
  • At least click on your S-drive

  • If you want to put this into a folder, click Make New Folder button, type in a folder name and click OK.
     

  • Click Next

 

 
  • Choose a template and click Finish
     
  • Gallery will then be saved into your S:drive

 

Close out of Picasa if you're not going to editing pictures or creating any more new galleries

 

Transferring the gallery to your web

  • Open My Computer and go to your S-drive where you saved the gallery.  It's a 'folder' that you're looking for.

 
  • Single-click the folder, go to edit / copy

    Alternatively, right-click the folder and choose copy

 

 
  • Go to your @shortcuts folder where the connection to your web resides.
  • Double-click your web connection and put in the correct securities information
  • Open (or create) the folder where you want the new gallery to be
  • Edit / Paste
    (or right-click/paste)
Create a hyperlink to the index file within the gallery folder you just placed into your web
