XP MovieMaker Steps

 

 

 

 

  Create a new folder in your S drive called MovieMaker (or Commercial or Propaganda) to put your videos in.

Download your videos from the camera to your S drive (follow the instructions in the camera bag or ask for help if you don’t know how).

 

 

 

 

Then, open XP MovieMaker  -    /  /

 

 

 

Import your video clips from

Your S drive

 After you have imported your video clips,  SAVE your Project in the Moviemaker folder you made in your S drive:

                                             Name of folder in your S drive:

super soap.png

Name of your product for file name

 

 

Drag and drop individual clips to the storyboard

Hit the    to save the changes you've made to this point

 

 

 

          

                                Edit your clips.  Cut out any unwanted sounds, bad filming, excess footage, etc.

Optional:  Add transitions

 

            Go to the storyboard view

·         In the Edit Movie section of the Movie Task bar, click on View Video Transitions.

·         Click-hold and drag a transition to the blank spaces in-between clips of the storyboard

 

       Hit the to save the changes you've made to this point

 

 

 

                       Optional:  Add video effects

·         Go to the storyboard view

·         In the Edit section of the Tasks area, click on View Video Effects

·         Click-hold and drag a transition on top of the clip you wish to have the effect

Hit the to save the changes you've made to this point

                                                  

 

                      Optional:  Voice-over and Music Add ons

 

To add a voice-over:

·         Connect a microphone to your computer

·         Click the http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/instructionaltechnology/thonnings/video/xpmoviemaker/images/microphone.gifat the bottom near the timeline

·         Click the Start Narration button

·         Click the Stop narration button

·         Click done when you're done and save the audio file to your S drive in the same place as you video file

 

 

To add a sound track:

·         Download a song or sound clip to your computer

·         In the Capture Video section of the task bar, click Import Audio or Music

·         Go to where you've saved the music and double-click the file

·         Trim the clip if needed.

 

 

 

                      

Hit the to save the changes you've made to this point

 

 

  

 

Adding credits

·         From the Edit Movie section, choose Make Titles or Credits

·         Choose which feature you wish

·         When you're done with the feature, click done add title (or credits) to movie

 

 

 

 

Hit the to save the changes you've made to this point

 

 

 

 

 

                        

 

 

Turning in your finished movie –MOST IMPORTANT STEP

 Part A: Saving to your S drive

·         In the Finish Movie section of the Task pane,

·         click Save to my computer

·         Save the movie into your S drive.  Make the file name the name of your commercial.

 Part B: Turning in to the teacher

Click http://www.westlake.k12.oh.us/instructionaltechnology/thonnings/video/xpmoviemaker/images/desktop.gif  on your quick launch to go to the desktop.  Open My Computer

Go to your S drive and find the movie file.  Single-click the file (highlight it, DO NOT OPEN the file) and go to Edit / Copy or use Control/ C keys to copy your file. 

Use the Back button  and go to Bupublic / Student Dropbox.  Find the folder for your teacher, open the folder for your period, and paste it there.
