5th at State!!!
Kalpana Beach did it again –
earning a spot on the podium in Columbus for the third time in four seasons,
this time with a 5th place finish!
Congratulations to KP for a historic career here at WHS and good luck

Record Breaking Day @ Districts!!!
Two more team records
were broken on one of the most beautiful days of the season thus far. Despite just missing out on qualifying to Regionals, the 4x800 team of Stephanie Robb, Charlotte
Tate, Liz Kobe, and Madison
, Dunlap broke the old
record by an impressive five seconds!
Robb later moved on to Regionals and helped
break another record with the 4x200 team of Erin D’Ettorre,
Maddie Sandhu, and Sarah Stachowiak. Later in
the day, Robb, Sandhu, and Stachowiak
joined up with Hayley Smik to also qualify in the
4x400. Joining them will be Kalpana Beach, who qualified to Regionalsf
or the 4th straight year!
Great job ladies!
4th at SWC’s
Improving from last
year’s SWC finish, the girls had several standout performances while hosting
the SWC Championship. Kalpana Beach won the HJ for the third time in four seasons
while newcomer Stephanie Robb ran to All-SWC status in three different events –
the 4x800, the 4x200, and the 800!
Joining Kalpana and
Stephanie in running to All-Conference status were Madison Dunlap, Liz Kobe,
and Charlotte Tate (4x800), and Sarah Stachowiak,
Erin D’Ettorre, and Maddie Sandhu (4x200) who also set a new school record! Great job to all the ladies on a great week
of running, and good luck next week at Districts!
Westlake Relays Champions!!!

Winning seven of 13
events, the Lady Demons won their fourth Westlake Relays title in five
years. Several girls had fine
performances, including the HJ team of Kalpana Beach,
Katie Carroll, and Charlotte Tate who set a new meet record as well as Sabrina Rizea, whose three victories on the day earned her the
Larry Nickle Most Outstanding Athlete award. Great job to all of the ladies on a fine

Undefeated at Home!!!
Running the final dual
meet of the season, the girls defeated Avon Lake to finish the regular season
3-0 at Lou Duchez Field. With both teams prepping for the post-season,
the meet was highlighted by Stephanie Robb’s four victories and the 4x100 team
re-setting it’s own record - congratulations to Andi DeMarsh, Sabrina Rizea, Maddie Sandhu,
and Erin D’Ettorre.

11th at Avon
Running at the Avon
Reynolds Relays for the second year in a row, the Lady Demons had several young
runners perform in their first weekend race.
Check out the results page as the girls prepare for three home meets in
a row over the next two weeks as they host Olmsted Falls, Westlake Relays, and
the SWC Championship meet!
2-0 at Home!!!
The girls ran their
record at Lou Duchez stadium to 2-0 as they defeated
Berea in convincing fashion. Highlights

Stung by the Bees & Improvement at Comet Relays
Running two consecutive
tough meets in a row, the girls suffered a tough loss to perennial SWC power
Brecksville before heading to Amherst for one of the more difficult relay meets
in the area. Improving last years team score at Comet, the Lady Demons highlight of the
day was the 4x100 team narrowly resetting their school record to finish 4th

Five in a Row @ Lakewood!!!
Winning the last four events
to sew up the team title, the girls took home their fifth straight Lakewood
Ranger Relays championship this past Friday.
The Lady Demons put forth fantastic performances the entire meet,
perhaps none more so than Lauren Hurst, who’s three 2nd place results
and winning 4x400 finish earned meet MVP honors. Congratulations to Lauren and the entire team

Blasted by the Meteors
Falling in 13 of 17 events,
the Lady Demons lost to a very talented Midpark team
this Wednesday. Keeping the score close
were several 2nd place finishes as well as three relay victories and
sophomore Nora Lee’s first Varsity win in the 800. The team will try to bounce back this Friday
at Lakewood Relays. Check above for more

Competed at Medina
The girls ran their first
invitational of the season coming in 8th at the always competitive
Medina Relays. Several girls placed at the
meet as the team looks forward to running this week on the road at Midpark and Lakewood.

First Win vs. Eagles!!
The girls started their
season with a victory over cross town rivals North Olmsted by winning 11 of 17
events. Highlights included Bridget and
Hayley Smik’s two wins as well as freshman Madison
Dunlap’s two victories. Congrats as well

Track Meeting & Indoor Track
The first track meeting
of the season is Tuesday January 11th in Mr. Miller’s room in the
math wing. Indoor track practice will
begin after midterms Monday, Wednesday, Friday at
2:50. See Mr. H if you have any indoor
track questions.
State Bound!
Congratulations to Kalpana Beach, whose runner up performance at Regionals earned her a third
straight qualification to the state meet this weekend. Good luck KP!
Districts
During the first day
of District competition at Amherst, Kalpana Beach become the first girl to qualify to Regionals
with her 3rd place finish in the HJ.
Narrowly missing out was the 4x800 team of Charlotte Tate, Liz Kobe,
Bridget Smik, and Alesha Beverly who finished 5th. On the second day, Charlotte Tate paced the
team with her 3rd place finish in the 800 while several other girls
placed in their events. Check out the

5th @ SWC’s
Despite placing 23
individual athletes, the girls fell to a 5th place finish at this
year’s SWC Championships at Berea. Final
day highlights included the all-conference 2nd place finishes of
Charlotte Tate in the 1600 and the 4x200 relay team of Hayley Smik, Erin D’Ettorre, Sarah Stachowiak, and Natalie Bechtel. Full results are posted above,

1st Day @ SWC’s
After three events,
the girls are in 2nd place at the SWC meet in Berea. Highlights include all-conference
performances by Kalpana Beach in the HJ and the 4x800
team of Charlotte Tate, Liz Kobe, Bridget Smik, and
Alesha Beverly who also set a new school record by over a second! Great job ladies and good luck to everyone at

2nd @ WESTLAKE!
Trying to “four-peat”
at Westlake Relays, the girls fell to an always tough Brunswick team to finish
as meet runners-up. Still, several standout performances took
place, including the shuttle hurdles team of Shelly Koski, Kelli Essi, Lauryn Smith, and Heather
Smith as well as Hayley Smik in the 400. Check out full results above as the girls

AVON RELAYS DEBUT
Running at the Avon

NEW FACES @ COMET RELAYS
Due to a number of
missing runners, several JV runners were given the chance to run at one of the
bigger and more competitive meets of the year.
Highlights included the shot put relay team and the shuttle hurdle team
both placing at the event. Check out the

FIRST WIN @ HOME!
Defeating the Shoregals of Avon Lake in a closely contested 69-68
victory, the Lady Demons enjoyed their first home victory of the season. Full results will be posted soon!
FOUR-PEAT @ LAKEWOOD!
Finishing no worse
than 2nd in all but one event, the Lady Demons won their fourth
straight Lakewood Ranger Relays Championship.
Several girls had standout performances, including double winners
Charlotte Tate, Heather Smith, Bridget Smik, Luccia Marinucci, and the meet’s MVP, Andi
Demarsh.

FIRST WIN @ BEREA!
Winning 14 of 17
events, the girls
enjoyed their first dual meet victory of the season. Highlights included Megan Davis winning all
four of her events while Jenna Daghstani swept the

MEDINA RELAYS
Finishing 7th
in their second appearance at the Medina Relays, the girls performed well
despite missing several teammates. In
their place, several JV girls stepped in to perform in their first varsity meet
while the 4x400 team of Natalie Bechtel, Hayley Smik,
Sarah Stachowiak, and Megan Davis’ 2nd
place finish highlighted the teams’ performance. Check out the results above for further

BEE STING!
Despite beautiful
weather, the Lady Demons fell to the Brecksville Bee’s in the team’s hope
opener. Several standout performances
took place, however, as results will be posted soon. Check back often!
2x12 AT AKRON!
Congratulations to
Megan Davis and Crystal Igwuagwu who competed at the
indoor state meet in Akron. Competing
against some of the best track athletes in Ohio, both girls outperformed their
state seedings to finish 12th in their

LAST MEET @ OBERLIN
Running their last indoor
meet of the season, several girls ended the season with new team PR’s. The 4x800 team of Megan Davis, Charlotte
Tate, Grace Jenkins, and Alesha Beverly set a new team record to start the day
while Brittany Antognazzi took over for Grace in the 4x400 as the team ended

GaREAT
TIMES @ GENEVA!
Running in the
newest and possibly the best indoor facility in the nation, several girls ran
well, led by Megan Davis’ season best in the 400. Click her to see results!
SEASON BESTS @ AKRON!
With the biggest
team attendance in years, the girls travelled to Akron and enjoyed several fine
performances. In the shot put, Jenna Daghstani and Jasmine Rodriguez set season bests while the
4x800 team of Charlotte Tate, Megan Davis, Julie Wang, and Alesha Beverly set a
new indoor record. In the triple jump,
Crystal Iwuagu set a new team record while Grace
Jenkins set a new PR in the 3200. Check

OBERLIN
Running in their second
meet of the season, several girls had outstanding performances at Oberlin
College. Megan Davis took 4th
in the 400 while Charlotte Tate finished 2nd in the 1600. Meanwhile, in the field events, first timers
Jasmine Rodriguez (7th in the Shot Put) and Crystal Iwuagu (2nd in the Long Jump) performed
extremely well. Ending the day for the
Lady Demons was Grace Jenkins, who lapped the field in the 3200 to take home a
1st place finish to go along with her 3rd place finish in

INDOOR @ KENT !
The girls put in
several fine performances in their first indoor meet of the year, highlighted
by the 4x800 team of Brittany Antognazzi, Alesha Beverly, Megan Davis, and
Charlotte Tate’s 6th place finish.
Tate and Davis came back to finished 10th & 11th,
respectively, in the 1600 and the 400 while Jenna Daghstani
earned a 12th place finish in the shot put. Check out their early

TRACK IS BACK !
Track season is
back! Last season was one of great
success as the team went undefeated in dual meets, broke nine team records,
defended their Lakewood and Westlake Relay championships, and sent eight
athletes to Regionals, capped off with Kalpana Beach’s 2nd
place finish at States in the LJ. The
team looks to continue it’s winning ways this season
by starting indoor track conditioning
the first week of January from 2:50-3:50 Monday through Thursday (meeting at
the “Four Corners” inside WHS) while outdoor track conditioning will begin
after midterms. See Coach Haselswerdt if
you’re interested in running indoor track or Coach Miller if you’d like to join
in the spring.

2nd at STATE!
Congratulations
(again!) to sophomore Kalpana Beach who finished tied
for second place in the state meet by just 1”, putting a fine capper to a fine
season for the Lady Demons.

BEACH to STATE!
Congratulations to
sophomore Kalpana Beach for qualifying to the state
meet for the second year in a row! Great
performances were also put in by Hanna Dixon, who set a school record in the
200, and the 4x400 Relay team of Megan Davis, Sarah Stachowiak,
Hayley Smik, and Dixon who not only set a school
record and finished 5th. Also
finishing 5th were Charlotte Tate in the 1600 and Bridget McNeill in
the Discuss. Congratulations to all the

4x4 at DISTRICTS!
Finishing 4th
at Districts, the girls were led by several fine performances, including four 2nd
place finishes highlighted by Alex James, Bridget McNeill, Kalpana
Beach, and Charlotte Tate. In all, nine
girls advanced to Regionals with their performances

3rd at SWC
Running against stiff
competition, the girls had several fine performances in one of the most
competitive SWC meets in recent memory.
Highlights included SWC Championships by Kalpana
Beach, who set a meet and school record in the High Jump, a distance-double by
Charlotte Tate in the 800 and the 1600, in which she broke freshman records in
both as well as a school record in the latter, and 4x400 team of Hayley Smik, Sarah Stachowiak, Kalpana Beach, and Megan Davis that set new school
record. Congratulations to all the girls

THREE-PEAT at WESTLAKE!!!
For the third year
in a row the girls were victorious on their home track, this time despite very
windy conditions and a much more competitive field. Several Lady Demons performed well, including
Alex James who was named the Larry Nickle Most
Outstanding Athlete! Click above for

5th at BEREA
Despite inclement
weather, the girls continued their fine season against solid competition with
several fine performances, including the first place Discus Relay team of
Bridget McNeill, Jenna Daghstani, and Grace Samanuk which captured their third relay title in row. See above results for more details from

6-0 at N.O.!
Continuing their
dual meet success, the girls ran their dual meet record to a perfect 6-0 with a
fine performance versus the Eagles of North Olmsted. Winning 12 of 17 events, the girls were highlighted
by Hannah Dixon narrowly missing the school record in the 200 while Alesha
Beverly, Alex James, and Charlotte Tate all had three victories apiece. See results above for full meet details.
3rd at COMET!
Improving from last
season’s 4th place finish by scoring in every event but one, the
girls finished in the top three at the historically competitive Amherst Comet
Relays. Highlighting the girls’ strong
performances were Alex James, who extended her own school record in the Long
Jump as well as the Sprint Medley team of Hayley Smik,
Liz Stark, Hannah Dixon, and Megan Davis who set a new school record in that event. Also
performing extremely well were Bridget McNeill, Jenna Daghstani,
and Amber Singleton, who won the Discus Relay.

The girls ran their
dual meet record to an undefeated 5-0 with a dominating performance versus
Olmsted Falls. Hannah Dixon and
Charlotte Tate led the girls with four victories each as the girls won 15 of 17

THREE-PEAT at LAKEWOOD RELAYS!!!
Despite missing
several team members due to Spring Break, the girls dominated a limited field
to earn their third straight Ranger Relays team championship. Winning multiple events, the meet was
highlighted by Kalpana Beach in the High Jump, who
extended her own school record, and Sophia Kopasakis
in the 3200, who set new meet records. See results above for more information on the

SWEEP at AMHERST
Sweeping all of the
running events, the girls defeated Amherst to go to 4-0 on the season in duel meets. See full

5th at MEDINA
Running against
stiff competition, the girls competed well en route to a top five team finish
at their first ever showing at the Medina Invitational. Despite missing several girls due to Spring
Break, the girls put in several fine performances that bode well for the
beginning of the season. Check the

UNBEATEN at HOME!
The girls won their
final home dual meet of the year by outsprinting a
much improved Avon Lake team. Also
dominating the field events, the girls put in several fine performances en
route to finishing their home season undefeated. See above for more results.
TEAM to WATCH
The Chronicle-Telegram named the girls as one of the Teams to Watch this season while Bridget McNeill and Kalpana Beach were named as two of the top Girls to Watch

2-0 at Home!
In their home
opener, the girls swept both Strongsville and Collinwood in the first meet of
the season. Dominating the distance and
field events, the girls have begun the ’09 campaign in impressive style by
starting the season with two strong wins.

TOPS in OHIO!!!
Running in the state
indoor track meet at the University of Akron, Charlotte Tate & Megan Davis
finished 9th and 11th, respectively, in the 1600 &
the 400. Both PR’d
and ran fantastic races, capping a fantastic indoor season and setting the
stage for the upcoming outdoor season.

STATE BOUND!!!
Qualifying for the
indoor state track meet, Charlotte Tate & Megan Davis will run this
Saturday at the University of Akron.
Charlotte, ranked 16th in the state will be seeded 12th
while Megan, ranked 17th in the state, will be seeded 13th. See Upcoming Events to the right for more information
on the event this weekend.
OBERLIN & DONE
Running in the last
indoor meet of the year, Charlotte Tate won the 1600 while Megan Davis finished
3rd in the 400. Bridget
McNeill, meanwhile, capped a fine indoor season that saw her finish in the top
30 in the state while Megan Boland finished 3rd in her heat. See full results above.
FINAL INDOOR MEET AT KENT
Every girl set a new
PR at the final indoor meet of the year at Kent State, with Megan Boland and
Megan Davis winning their heats in the 200 while Bridget McNeill qualified for
the third straight time to the finals of the shot. Meanwhile, Charlotte Tate won her heat in the
1600 while finishing 10th overall.

2nd INDOOR MEET AT KENT
Participating in their
second indoor meet of the year at Kent State University, the girls enjoyed
several outstanding performances, led by Megan Davis’ 2nd place
finish in the 400 and top 10 finish in the 200, Charlotte Tate’s 4th
place finish in the 1600, and Bridget McNeill’s 8th place mark in
the shot put. Running for the first time
this season were Alesha Beverly, Megan Boland, and Dunya

Several girls
traveled to Kent State University to participate in the team’s first meet of
the year. Running well were Megan Davis
& Charlotte Tate who both finished in the top ten in their events while
Jenna Daghstani & Bridget McNeill’s throws earned

AT STATE!

qualified to the state track meet in Columbus with their top four finishes at
the regional meet while Alesha Beverly finished 5th in the 1600 and

2nd AT DISTRICTS!
Led by the twelve
girls who qualified to Regionals, the girls finished
with their highest place at districts in team history and also had three
District Champions – Alesha Beverly, Alex James, and Bridget McNeill – who all

2nd IN THE SWC
Coming down to the
last three events, the girls fell to a talented Brecksville team to take the
runner-up spot in the SWC despite several fine performances. Special congratulations to 1st
Team All-SWC athletes Bridget McNeill and Kalpana

WESTLAKE RELAYS CHAMPS!
Holding off
Strongsville in the final race of the day, the girls defended last year’s
Westlake Relays Championship with several outstanding team and individual
performances. Special congratulations to
Megan Davis who, with her four 1st place finishes, was voted the
meet’s Most Outstanding Athlete! Full

3-1 IN THE SWC
Winning 15 of 16
events, the girls defeated Berea and concluded their dual meet schedule with a

2nd AT BEREA!
Despite the rain,
thunder, and lightening, the girls earned their best finish at the Berea Relays
in 20 years by scoring in every event and taking relay championships in the
discus relay and the 4x1600 relay while Bridget McNeil improved upon her own
team record for the second time this season.

STUNG BY THE BEES
The girls suffered their first SWC loss of the year versus a very
talented Brecksville team. Check out the

4th AT COMET
Competing in the most challenging relay meet of the year while missing
several key participants, the girls still finished in the top four with a true
team effort by scoring in 12 of 16 events, including a first place finish by
the discus relay team. Full meet results

3-0 IN THE SWC
The girls defeated a talented Midpark team at
home with 11 wins in 17 events and several solid performances. Check the results above for full meet

DEFENDING RANGER RELAY CHAMPS!
The girls defended their Team Title at Lakewood in style by finishing
no less than 3rd place in every event. Several standout performances took place,
including record setting relay performances by the high jump, long jump, and
discus teams as well as new school records in the long jump by Alex James and
the high jump by Kalpana Beach. Special congratulations to meet co-MVP’s Alex

Winning 11 of 17 events, the girls defeated North Olmsted for their
second home win of the season.

The girls defeated Olmsted Falls at home by winning 12 of 17
events. Highlights included Bridget
McNeill increasing her own record in the discus and Kalpana

FIRST MEET OF THE YEAR
The girls started their ’08 season on
the road with a victory over Collinwood and a loss to host Strongsville. Despite the cold, the girls won several
events in their opening meet of the year.
